Many regional organisations of potters were formed to promote standards, primarily in Studio made Domestic Pottery. They often had a Guild type of structure with assessment of work being a pre-requisite of membership. As Ceramics has developed into a much more diverse range of activities the role of the organisations has shifted to one much more focused on education and encouragement to those wishing to take up ceramics either as a hobby or professionally. Although we have a committee that meets regularly, NWP is a members organisation and what we do and how we operate is up to you. Do not be a passive observer, get involved, hold events, share your expertise, throw or chuck some clay.
